If you needed more proof that their is a ton of growth going on in the bitcoin exchange community, here’s something else to convince you.
Swedish bitcoin exchange Safello has announced an investment of $250,000 from the Bitcoin Opportunity Corporation, started by Barry Silbert, CEO of both SecondMarket and the Bitcoin Investment Trust.
“In a very short period of time, the Safello team has created a leading European platform for buying, storing and selling bitcoin,” said Silbert in a press statement. “Their user and transaction growth is accelerating and I’m thrilled to join a group of fantastic investors to help support Safello’s rapid growth and ambitious product plans.”
The Bitcoin Opportunity Corporation has invested in a number of bitcoin-related ventures, of which include San Francisco-based Coinbase, Atlanta-based BitPay, and Boston-based Circle Internet Financial.
Safello is planning to put the round of funding to good use — using it to allow for future expansion.
“We are on a mission to change the way people spend and perceive money. To accomplish this on a global scale we need to be best in class. This applies to our product, team, network and investors,” said Safello CEO Frank Schuil. “Safello is honoured to have Bitcoin Opportunity Corp. on board and work with Barry Silbert who has the deep market knowledge and network required to help us pull this off.”
Launched about one year ago, Safello has already managed to receive a $600,000 investment earlier this year from investors like Roger Ver, Nicolas Cary, and Erik Voorhees.
The company has been working to streamline customer verification with a strategic partnership with Jumio, and recently added a way to for customers to make direct payments from 86 banks in Europe.
The company has also been working on a bitcoin ATM deployment in Stockholm.
