Cryptocurrency exchanges are always risky to deal with. Even though these companies make it easy to access cryptocurrency, getting funds out can be a big hassle. It appears some people have issues getting money out of Poloniex, whereas others do so just fine. It is a bit unclear as to what is going exactly, though. Unfortunately, these are not the first woes for Poloniex users either.
It is never good to see users complain about getting funds off an exchange. Most people tend to withdraw money from an exchange as quickly as possible. Doing so requires users to verify their identity. Additionally, a higher level of verification results in higher withdrawal limits. Poloniex is no different in this regard, even though a lot of users are complaining right now. It does not appear to be linked to individual user verification levels, though.
Poloniex Withdrawal Issues are Troubling
More specifically, there are a lot of complaints about withdrawals getting stuck. Several complaints have been received related transactions “Awaiting Approval”. Other users can request a withdrawal and get the funds in less than an hour. It is unclear what is going on exactly. More specifically, there is no method to the madness of withdrawal issues whatsoever. In some cases, people are waiting for their funds for over a week now. That is unacceptable, regardless of the reasoning behind it.
From personal experience, there are no issues with Poloniex withdrawals whatsoever. However, the mounting number of complaints hint at an underlying issue which needs to be investigated. There is no reason not to process withdrawals days after they were initiated. Some people speculate Poloniex is preparing for a massive exit scam. That seems rather unlikely, although they would not be the first company to pull such a stunt. The MintPal debacle started in a similar fashion.
Unfortunately, things have been looking pretty bad for Poloniex lately. Not too long ago, the exchange suffered from multiple outages in quick succession. This was blamed on unexpected user growth and random DDoS attacks. Add the withdrawal issues on top of this, and the situation has grown very dire. Poloniex has no issues crediting deposits, though. All of these issues relate to withdrawals of multiple currencies, including Bitcoin, Ether, and Monero.

45 days i deposited xem y bitshare have not come yet
They have issues crediting deposits too, I’m awaiting one ETH deposit for over 5 days now, and there are a lot of people complaining on their twitter for both missing deposits and verification of withdraws.
I have 6 pending tickets on Poloniex. The oldest is from 1 month ago (#180174). Patience is a virtue and while Poloniex doesn’t face serious competition and lose users and volume, nothing will change.
wow in one month they have had 100K tickets. I filed a ticket today #279XXX thats 3300+ tickets per day, they clearly do not have enough support staff to deal with that kind of volume and something is broken. My 1.93 ETH withdrawal is stuck for 10 hours now, shows complete, with txID that doesnt exist on the blockchain yet.

Besides withdrawal issues, being locked in your position, unable to sell for 12 hrs while the price plummits due to panic selling, is NOT cool. This happened about a month ago and before that, it happened 3 other times, all when xrp was on a bull run. You’d just be stuck, watching the price tank, unable to sell for hours. Poloniex needs to shut themself down until they can resolve these issues or they need to be shut down.

yeah and still no withdrawals on 4th July. Glad i have less than $100 worth. Polo blame it on Steem of course.

Never had an issue depositing or withdrawing btc from poloniex, longest wait time was 2 hours.
I wonder if the people having issues are trying to do a withdrawal the same day they deposited or immediately after trading one coin for another.
It seems that the Poloniex Support Team is in complete hiding, as soon as you need help your lost on Poloniex.
Got no response to a ticket within 6 Weeks and counting, my Verfication Update is also pending for more than 5 Weeks without any response.
It could be the start of a big, bad Scam operation, especially this complete silence from Poloniex is an evil sign.

not necessarily. Kraken also had issues. In May I was waiting 3 weeks+ for a ticket response but when i found out i could raise issues through Bitcointalk forums, they resolved my query in a couple days. I think their staff was just totally swamped by requests. Now i have zero issues, money & coins flows in and out quickly. However, I cannot withdraw my Steem from Poloniex which really pisses me off!

Open a support ticket. I got my coins a few hours after I sent the ticket.
I did, its been about an hour. Trying to be patient. I still have a couple hundred STRAT on Polo, debating what I should do, convert to LTC and move to Trex is likely

Things are going worse at Poloniex.

My theory is they are just unorganized and in over their heads. My guess is incompetence rather than malicious intent. The lack of support though suggests they know they are in trouble and seem to be praying for a solution without admitting fault. They let money come quickly but getting it out is arduous. I finally got approved for level 3 withdrawals after about a month, but that was also about 2 days after I figured out how to submit a ticket under the subject of “profile”. For several other reasons, I am sure they will someday collapse.
I finally got all of my coins off there yesterday! Thank God. Stay away for sure!

Holding my money for over 5 days now. They let me withdraw and deposit in amounts of under $500. But when I tried withdrawing $2000, now they are putting my withdrawal on hold for a while now.
ONLY withdraw BTC from Polo, not other Alts. trade first into BTC, then wihdraw, no issues.
Deposited ETC 3 days ago and still no sign of it. Put a ticket in with Poloniex support 2 days ago and still no response… WTF!

Get your coins out and don’t look back. There are other exchanges. Poloniex is showing all the signs of leaving a smoking crater in the crypto landscape, just like Mt Gox and Crypsy did.
Heed the signs, listen to the warnings.
I’d start making the assumption that whatever Poloniex is currently doing, it’s likely an exit scam like you mention. They’ve been holding a pending withdrawal of mine hostage for nearly 1.5 weeks. Unfortunately, there’s no support and when the team does finally reach you, they don’t discuss the topic at hand, rather, they direct you to the resources section on support that doesn’t help at all…

Okay; online comments have been pretty scary about Poloniex and it’s stressing me out. Here’s the good news: it did take me many months to get my level 3 approved ($25,000 daily limit) and I have since withdrawn ETH and BTC without any issues. I still have a pending ticket to increase my daily withdrawal limit and just closed a ticket about Bytecoin that was there for over 3 months (they have fixed the Bytecoin issue so I closed the ticket myself). I think the rise of ETH extended their lifespan if they were struggling because BCN got fixed as soon as ETH hit $300 (and that had been waiting for many months). It is the exchange with the best interface and is a pleasure to work on. I hope all their issues get resolved =)
