In an email to eligible voters, the Bitcoin Foundation has noted they are planning to extend their election for two vacant industry seats on their board.
Voting was originally expected to end on the 28th of April at midnight, but the Foundation says that date has been pushed up two days to the 30th of April.
The reason? Technical difficulties. That’s according to chairman of the Foundation’s election committee Brian Goss, who wrote the following (via CoinDesk):
[blockquote style=”2″]On account [of] the hiccups we had getting the vote launched as well as the numerous reports of ballots getting stuck in spam folders, we will be extending the voting deadline to 11:59 PM US Eastern time on Wednesday, April 30th.[/blockquote]
The extension will make certain that no submitted votes (which are done so via email) were lost during the time of difficulties.
The two industry seats once belonged to Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpeles and former BitInstant CEO Charlie Shrem.
Karpeles stepped down shortly after the collapse of the bitcoin exchange he was running, and Shrem stepped down shortly after his arrest earlier this year (he is accused of money laundering in the neighborhood of $1 million by selling bitcoins to users of the first Silk Road online drug marketplace).
Contenders for the seats include Bobby Lee of BTC China, Brock Pierce (former child actor and bitcoin entrepreneur), Frank Schuil (CEO of Safello), and Huobi CEO Leon Li.
