An interesting scoop has been published by bitcoin news website Coin Fire which suggests that image sharing platform Imgur will soon be accepting bitcoin payments for their premium accounts services.
The news comes from “multiple sources” of the publication, comes following numerous requests from the company. To add, a Reddit user posted a screenshot of an email conversation with one of the company’s employees, which reads:
[blockquote style=”2″]We intend to allow payment by bitcoin in the near future, but there’s no ETA on when it will be added yet. We’re also looking into dogecoin.[/blockquote]
We cannot verify the authenticity of the correspondence, but if true, dogecoin users will also be pleased with the news.
It’s yet another online company recognizing that including bitcoin payments can help their bottom line. Especially if they need not pay excessive credit card processing fees.
Imgur’s premium service, dubbed Imgur Pro, offers a host of improvements over basic accounts. If paid for annually, users can pay $23.95 for no advertisements, additional image features (such as increasing file size and image storage limits), and improved analytics.
Founded in 2009, Imgur was created by Alan Schaaf, and remains one of the easiest ways on the web today to quickly and efficiently share images and image galleries with others.
We can’t exactly say how popular Imgur Pro will be among bitcoiners, but the community does tend to show their support for bitcoin-embracing companies, so who knows, it could turn out to be a very positive thing.
