ARK Platform, the innovative blockchain based products and solutions initiative has taken a major step by making the codes completely open source. The platform released the codes on its official GitHub account on November 12, 2016, with the intention of allowing developers from across the world to take advantage of the latest advancements in blockchain technology.
The decision of ARK Crew — the development team behind ARK blockchain platform comes amidst the ongoing process of raising funds for further development through the ARK Token Exchange Campaign. The platform has decided to release the codes much before the official launch to maintain transparency and encourage better community building efforts. A press release issued by the platform quotes one of the ARK board members, Matthew DC saying,
“We know it may seem unusual to release our code before we even launch our project, but we want to be as open as possible. Rather than shy away from competition or worry about others using our code, we highly encourage it. The more teams we have working on ARK technology, the better it will be for everyone!”
In addition to the release of open source code on GitHub, The ARK Crew have also announced the beginning of their first developer-focused bounty program. The program is designed to encourage more developers to review the platform, source code and offer feedback in exchange for rewards. Both the initiatives are launched in defiance of the industry practice where the cryptocurrency and blockchain platforms tend to release their code and introduce other programs only after the official launch. ARK Platform’s recent announcements come at least two months before the official launch, currently fixed for February 1, 2017.
The ARK TEC crowdfunding campaign that started on November 7, 2016, has started off well. The platform has raised over $1 million in the first 24 hours itself. ARK TEC is set to go on until December 11, 2016, and it is expected to raise sufficient funds by the end of the campaign.
