Since debuting the first bitcoin ATM in the United States last month (and shipping 10 more overseas), Robocoin is continuing its expansion. The Las Vegas-based company is planning to unveil the State of California’s first bitcoin ATM on Thursday, March 20th at the 500 Startups’ Bitcoinference in the heart of Silicon Valley.
“We’re setting the precedent for bitcoin ATMs and demonstrating to California’s citizens and regulators just how this exchange business should be run with respect to Anti-Money Laundering compliance and consumer protection,” said Robocoin CEO Jordan Kelley. “Our Robocoin Operator shares our vision of bringing bitcoin to the world the right way.”
The conference, which is sold-out, will be taking place at 444 Castro Street #1200 in Mountain View. Following the event, the kiosk (which allows consumers to buy bitcoin with fiat and vice-versa) will be moved two blocks away to its permanent location at Coinage, LLC, on 206 Castro Street.
This will be the first opportunity to residents of California (well, in the Silicon Valley, anyway) an opportunity to use a bitcoin ATM first-hand.
The first Robocoin ATM made its debut last year in a downtown Vancouver coffee house.
