Is Cambridge, Massachusetts the home of the next Bitcoin Boulevard?
Very likely, it seems. A number of businesses on Massachusetts Avenue (just a stone’s throw away from the Charles River) have turned to bitcoin, accepting the digital currency as a means of payment.
As pointed out by Vice Motherboard, those business include Thelonious Monkfish (which was reported to be the first restaurant in New England to accept bitcoin), Veggie Galaxy (the second), Moksa (an Asian cuisine eatery), and NAGA, a nightclub/bar.
Put that all together with the recent opening of the LibertyTeller’s newest bitcoin ATM — which is located inside of Moksa — and you have a small digital currency ecosystem.
These business are also just a short walk away from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), an advanced institution with an extremely tech-savvy student body.
And speaking of these students, recent reported indicate the entire undergraduate group at the school will be receiving $100 worth of bitcoin, which will provide a great opportunity for them to put it to good use.
This Bitcoin Boulevard isn’t the first to take place in the United States.
In recent news, a number of businesses in Cleveland came together to allow bitcoin enthusiasts to spend their bitcoin at their establishments — most of which were restaurants.
Outside of the United States, a Bitcoin Boulevard also recently took place in The Hague, Netherlands.
