Goodgame Studios Starts Taking Bitcoin Payments in US and Netherlands

Goodgame Studios has partnered with Bitcoin payment processing company BitPay to enable digital currency payments on its US and Netherlands-based platforms.

The German gaming software company took the decision to accept Bitcoin only after receiving positive feedback from its customer-base, a large number of which are speculated to be using the decentralized cryptocurrency for payments. Using this speculation, Goodgame Studios now plans to integrate the new option in the in-gaming checkouts of its widely accessed games, including Empire: Four Kingdoms, Shadow Kinds and Big Farm.

The introduction of BitPay will meanwhile protect Goodgame Studios from Bitcoin’s price volatility — by instantly converting the digital currency payments into the expected fiat amount. Oleg Savschouk, Head of the GS’s Monetization & Payment department, further expressed his excitement towards their partnership with the San-Francisco company, and stated:

“With BitPay, our players now have access to a new and convenient payment platform. Our focus is always providing our users with the best of entertainment as well as safe and secure payment platforms, hence this partnership is in sync with our overall goals.”

A Wider Bitcoin Adoption?

For a company whose annual revenue has increased by 97% within just one year, Goodgame Studios is surely a place to expand Bitcoin ecosystem. The company currently provides 10 titles in 26 different languages, a factor that might put Bitcoin before millions of registered users.

However, at the same time, Goodgame Studios have limited their Bitcoin checkouts to the US and Netherlands only. They haven’t revealed any plans to expand their territory as of now.
