Las Vegas-based Robocoin is bringing their business right to the heart of Sin City.
The company announced Wednesday that they have launched one of their own ATMs right on the Las Vegas Strip. Aptly named the ‘The Bitcoin Bodega’, the kiosk is installed inside a souvenir shop on the busiest intersection on Las Vegas Boulevard (south of Harmon Boulevard). The location is prime, with over 100,000 people walking by every day.
The Robocoin kiosk will be operated by Coin Cloud, and the location at which it is installed has easy drive-up parking in addition to around-the-clock security.
Robocoin says that the first kiosk on the strip highlights two main trends.
The first of which is bitcoin tourism.
The company said, “Even while Bitcoin merchant adoption remains a work in progress, Robocoin already provides a viable alternative to flying with cash or maxing out daily ATM limits.”
The second is miners-turned-Robocoin operators. Chris McAlary of Coin Cloud is one of the miners, and McAlary is even allowing miners who want to pool bitcoins in order to buy Robocoin kiosks to email him at chris@coincloudnv.com.
Consumers will have access to The Bitcoin Bodega seven days a week from 8 am through midnight.
This isn’t the first Robocoin ATM installed in Las Vegas, however. The first was installed in May inside of The D Las Vegas Casino Hotel — which became the first Casino (in addition to a sister property, the Golden Gate Casino Hotel) to accept bitcoin for hotel accommodations, dining, and more (but excluding gambling).
