The little-known father of bitcoin — Satoshi Nakamoto — has been nominated for the 2013 Guardian Person of the Year award. The recognition comes after bitcoin has had a wildly successful year, with the value increasing from 2 digits to 4 digits.
Even though it’s not clear who or whom Satoshi Nakamoto is, exactly, it’s an attempt to recognize the brilliant mind/s behind the digital currency that may just change how we buy and sell goods. Nakamoto is joined by entities such as Elon Musk of SpaceX, Pope Francis, and Kanye West.
The general public is able to vote for who they think should be Person of the Year by leaving a comment on the page linked above. A tally and subsequent announcement of who has one will be announced “hopefully” by the year’s end.
