San Francisco-based SnapCard today announced that they’re adding support for Canada — allowing our northern friends the ability to spend bitcoin on over 45,000 websites by proxy.
SnapCard’s services are used globally by thousands, and allow consumers to make purchases online using a ‘bookmarklet’ on large and small merchant sites that don’t officially accept bitcoin like Wal-Mart, Amazon, Target, and Kohl’s. They’ll even support ‘Buy it Now’ purchases on eBay.
The company takes a 2 percent cut on all purchases made using their service, and allows the customer to view the status of their orders and tracking information as if they had made the purchase with fiat currency.
As the use of bitcoin continues to expand, services like SnapCard and Gyft (which allows users to purchase pre-loaded gift cards with bitcoin) are becoming increasingly popular in the community, not surprisingly.
Which brings me to this: would you pay an extra 2 percent to use SnapCard’s service?
