The Bitcoin Foundation is planning to host a series of Reddit AMAs beginning tomorrow in the spirit of transparency. The Foundation’s own Jinyoung Lee Englund announced the series in a blog post Monday.
The first session begins tomorrow, Tuesday, October 14th. And on deck is the Foundation’s Global Policy Counsel, Mr. Jim Harper. His AMA begins at 11 a.m. Eastern U.S. time.
Here’s his bio:

From 2004 to 2014, Harper was director of information policy studies at the Cato Institute, where he remains a senior fellow. A former counsel to committees in both the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate, he went on to represent companies such as PayPal, ICO-Teledesic, DigitalGlobe, and Verisign on Capitol Hill. He was a member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee, and he co-edited the book Terrorizing Ourselves: How U.S. Counterterrorism Policy is Failing and How to Fix It. Harper has written several amicus briefs in Fourth Amendment cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, and he wrote the book, Identity Crisis: How Identification Is Overused and Misunderstood. Harper holds a J.D. from UC Hastings College of Law.[/blockquote]
So, for those not familiar with the Reddit social network, AMA stands for “ask me anything”.
It is, effectively, a means for the public to interview and communicate with others in a question-and-answer format. This particular series takes place on the Bitcoin subreddit.
Other folks expected to do an AMA include the Foundation’s own Mark Woods, Keven Beardsley, Gavin Andresen, Jon Matonis, and more.
The bitcoin community has previously criticized the Bitcoin Foundation for not being as transparent as possible, but it would appear this is a step in the right direction. And it will certainly be interesting to see what comes of the AMA session on Tuesday.

What a clusterfuck. Jim provided documentation and the same people asked the same question again and again and again. Why? Because they want transparency for members… None of them are members of course, so it’s more so a witch hunt where understanding of the climate is as good as it’s going to get. The priority to Reddit is price, viciousness and never being wrong or rational. It was the rudest thing I’ve seen from this so called community. It’ll get worst of course when regulation comes.
