The University of Nicosia made history by becoming the first educational institution to offer bitcoin tuition payment. Now, the University is offering an Introduction to Digital Currencies course, for free.
For those interested in this MOOC (Massive Open Online Course), the only real pre-requisite is that you speak English proficiently.
Aside from the fact that the University’s instructors will be leading the course, Andreas Antonopoulos and Antonis Polemitis will serve as course lecturers. Mr. Antonopoulos’ book, Mastering Bitcoin, is listed as required reading for the course.
“I am delighted to be teaching this course along with my colleagues at the University of Nicosia,” said Andreas Antonopoulos. “It is an excellent opportunity for anyone to develop a good understanding of the technical and non-technical aspects of decentralized currencies in general and, more specifically, explore both bitcoin (the network) and Bitcoin (the currency).”
The six-week-long begins on the 15th of May, and serves as the first course at the University’s digital currency Master’s program. Future sessions will be available.
According to the University, the course will “cover technical, legal, economic and regulatory matters relating to Bitcoin and Digital Currency”.
For those looking to continue on to the Master’s program, the estimated cost will be $16,250 USD.
