The monument, which had been under threat of collapse due to a lack of funding and vandalism, is now being restored by Caizcoin.

At the end of the 1990s, Ottmar Hörl created two copies of the Euro sculpture; one was placed at Frankfurt Airport, and the other was given to the organization Frankfurter Kultur Komitee, which had it placed on the city’s Willy-Brandt-Platz next to the Eurotower, which served as the home of the European Central Bank (ECB).

There were requests from a number of sources to remove the object from the square in the city center and either transfer it to the Ostend or put it in a museum once the ECB moved to its new site in Frankfurt’s Ostend.

The Frankfurter Kultur Komitee organization thereafter got demands to exhibit it, among other places, in a prominent position in Paris.

In the Ostend, the sculpture was moved from its original spot. However, since its construction it has fallen into disrepair due to lack of funds and vandalism.

Caizcoin’s CEO Jörg Hansen says that their goal is “to make this landmark an example of sustainability at its finest.” They will be renovating the monument with a new vision of its purpose.
