Nowadays we are seeing an increase in the number Bitcoin and digital currency related courses offered by various universities and organizations. These Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are designed for those who are interested to learn about Bitcoin and digital currencies. They are available in different languages. The Introductory MOOC Course on Digital Currency offered by the University of Nicosia in Cyprus and UniMOOC’s “Bitcoin, la moneda virtual” (translates to ‘Bitcoin, the Virtual Money’) are couple of examples of MOOCs on digital currency.
It has been over seven years since Satoshi Nakamoto introduced Bitcoin to the world. Bitcoin has changed the way people perceive money and it has opened doors to the digital currency revolution. The number of people using Bitcoin is increasing every day and the size of the Bitcoin community is expected to reach about 5 million by the end of year 2019.
The present Bitcoin community is predominantly an English speaking early adopter community for a reason. Most of of the Bitcoin resources are available only in English, but unfortunately, not everyone understands English. Lack of resources in other languages has deprived the non-English speakers of information about Bitcoin and digital currencies. For widespread adoption of Bitcoin, it is important for everyone to know. It can be achieved by administering courses and providing educational content in multiple languages. UniMOOC and Shu-Bitcoin are two such organizations that offers bitcoin related information resources in languages other than English. While UniMOOC offers its courses in Spanish, Shu-Bitcoin caters to Arabic and French speaking population.
UniMOOC
UniMOOC is a collaborative project started by The University of Alicante’s Institute for International Economics along with other partner universities and companies including Google. UniMOOC offers equal opportunity courses that doesn’t require the students to have any specialized skillset of qualifications to access them. UniMOOC’s most of the courses are taught in Spanish.
Shu-Bitcoin
Shu-Bitcoin is a bitcoin resource site. Shu-Bitcoin is available in three different languages, viz. English, Arabic and French. Shu-Bitcoin is also responsible for organizing bitcoin meetups and conferences in Jordan, Lebanon and Dubai.
