Brock Pierce is now the Bitcoin Foundation President. The Bitcoin entrepreneur and venture capitalist has been elected as Chairman of the Board of the Bitcoin Foundation. Elected by a 3-0-1 vote, Pierce will now be succeeding Peter Veseness, the former Chairman. The Bitcoin Foundation is a non-profit organization and the role of Chairman along with the other Board members is an unpaid position.
Broke Pierce thankfully accepted the position and immediately gave an insight of what were his intentions for the Bitcoin Foundation.
“I wish to thank the industry members that elected me to the Bitcoin Foundation board as well as my fellow board members for their vote of confidence in nominating and electing me to this position. I look forward to working with our newly appointed executive director, Bruce Fenton, the board, as well as the membership to put the past behind us and work toward fulfilling the organization’s potential.”
Broke expects the foundation to follow standard non-profit procedures. He feels the board, led by the chairman, should formulate the direction of the foundation, with the executive director carrying out the will of the board. This should all be made collaboratively.
Published board minutes and open communication among the board and members should be made public for community oversight. The newly elected President wants to put together a program in which the foundation uses and develops strengths that help fosters the Bitcoin ecosystem. They are also working to get the community more involved with the Foundation’s developments and projects.
News about the foundation has not been very encouraging lately, but Broke already expressed his intentions to leave the past behind, by working to move forward on rebuilding its image.
With a new chairman elected, the Foundation will now develop a new strategic plan to meet the ecosystem’s demands.
