LocalBitcoins.com users remain at a stand still as we’re well into the second day of a major outage that has brought down the popular bitcoin buying/selling service.
The Swedish-based company remained rather quiet on the issue Saturday, simply noting that there was a “possible hardware issue” — but as of today, the company has placed a banner on their site saying: “Crap. The site is unavailable.”
LocalBitcoins took the opportunity to make the following points:
- The issue started on Saturday evening (in Central European Time).
- The issue is not in the least security related. The problem has been identified to be in the network hardware they’re using.
- All bitcoins and trades are secure.
At 10:39 AM (Eastern U.S. time) Sunday, the company projected the estimated time of repair to be ten hours. We are fast approaching the expiration of those ten hours — with users getting increasingly frustrated.
Monitoring the twitter-sphere, there’s no lack of users submitting their complaints.
“Come on!!” says one twitter-er (?).
“WHOA! you should have warned about this so we could have prepared more adequately!” another chimes in rather uselessly.
Sure, we get you’re annoyed, but it’s called an unexpected outage for a reason.
Certainly, it seems to be quite a complex issue, so if you’re a hardcore user of the site, relax. Fix yourself a drink and enjoy what’s left of the weekend!

Do people enjoy being stupid?
My goodness people…let’s relax. Major banks make their website unavailable for transactions during the week-ends quite often. LBTC never had major problems…sometimes things happen in life! Just go for a walk…relaxing and healthy.
