Litecoin is a peer-to-peer open-source cryptocurrency. Since its integration into the virtual payments universe in 2011, litecoin, like most of its digital currency cousins has experienced its ups and downs.
Now that 2014 is coming to a close, many are wondering what the new year will hold for the currency platform, and whether or not it will be able to continue to hold its ground.
On various litecoin forums, the verdict appears to be mixed. For example, a poll conducted on litecointalk.org in August of 2014 asks, “On January 1st, the price of Litecoin will be…” and it allows voters and readers to fill in the gaps. The poll gave a wide price range; below five dollars, between five and ten dollars, between 10 and 15, and finally ending with above 20 dollars.
Out of 73 voters, 45 (almost 61 percent of those taking part in the poll) voted for “above $20,” thus showing that confidence in litecoin hasn’t died out. Those who love it expect it to thrive.
Other users of the forum are more specific in their ideas regarding litecoin’s potential price increase. One, for example, stated that the price of litecoin would be around $100, while another went so far as to say it would eventually reach over $500. Is any of this possible?
What do you all think? Will litecoin explode in 2015 or will it experience a massive sink? Post your comments and ideas below.
Dear relatives, one of the alt-coins will eventually journey well under Bitcoin, that’s a given. But which one will it be? I don’t know. I don’t do mornings, much as I don’t do silver and so I am not available for commitment on it. The pure mass of them has muddied the options and only metadata experts would have any idea as to which one that might be at this stage. And only if they are lookng. Have fun guessing though.
I hate saying it but Ripple will be the one to challenge Bitcoin, although not a decentralized crypto currency, it is a platform and a currency and Ripple labs signed a multi-million dollar deal with US banks to deploy ripple as their new payment transfer gateway, challenging Bitcoin, when it is implemented. Sorry to say but other currencies can not compete, except Bitcoin but still the BTC is down and no one knows why, its the banks again, pumping and dumping BTC for gain and to make the market index fall. Ripple will be the only contender thanks to banks, they are fighting for their very survival!
Ripple is not a revolution, it had popularity only because it makes the banks happy.
Bitcoin is a revolution and does lead into the right direction.
Negative. ripple is a network, xrp is it’s native currency. In fact is is revolutionary in that it has never been done before. ripple is currency agnostic and allows people to send btc, ltc, xrp, etc for free (almost) and in a VERY fast manner. xrp is already the second largest market cap displacing ltc, and second to btc.
I love Ripple. The three here that will be the bell weathers are Bitcoin, Ripple and Litecoin.
High on hopium doesn’t impact the market. Litecoin played an important role in mining and it will be remembered as it price continues to crash.
Didn’t it sink already? RIP
I believe Litecoin will be between $50 and $500 within 3 years. Remember Tim Draper’s prediction while on the Fox business network. He predicted Bitcoin would be up to $10k by 2018. Now this isn’t any typical billionaire. If bitcoin manages to climb up to this price you can test assured that Litecoin will be between $250 & $500. So yes, your dreams of becoming a millionaire are a very possible reality. It all depends on how much you can stomach knowing that you can lose everything. I do not mind risking over $5000 if it has the potential of making me over $100k in return. Of course, many investors cannot take this roller coaster ride and this is why they have the Bitcoin Investment Trust fund that tracks 1/10th the price of bitcoin. So for those who cannot stomach buying Bitcoin at the current price of $280 they can now go through their stock broker account and purchase a tenth of the value of a Bitcoin (i.e. $28) which trades on the OTC markets. But yes, their is a tremendous bright future for the digital silver known as Litecoin.
