Swedish bitcoin services company Safello today announced a partnership with Jumio to integrated the company’s Netverify system into their e and speed up the new customer verification process for European customers.
We first heard about Jumio in late March, when the Andreessen Horowitz-backed company announced the Bitcoin Identity Security Open Network (BISON) – and also a partnership with a number of bitcoin companies to form an identity security network.
Instead of going through the trouble of scanning one’s government-issued ID, Jumio’s system allows the user to hold it in front of their camera, and the system will extract the text and auto-populate appropriate fields.
This also means that once the process is completed, users can transfer their ID without having to take another image with any other service that’s partnered with Jumio.
“In Sweden we introduced Mobile Bank ID earlier this year as a verification method. It significantly improved the conversion rate and our customers loved it. We set out to find an equally reliable and compliant solution for the rest of Europe and found Jumio to fit all of our requirements,” said Sara Lindqvist, compliance officer at Safello.
Other companies partnered with Jumio include BitAccess and CoinMkt.
“More and more Bitcoin operators are ready and willing to embrace customer verification through Jumio’s automated identity authentication service,” said Safello’s CMO, Marc Barach. “Safello are one of the new operators driving a quicker, slicker customer experience in Bitcoin by incorporating new technologies like Jumio’s Netverify along the way. We are also delighted to announce Safello as a new member of BISON, the Bitcoin Identity Security Open Network, where they join likeminded Bitcoin operators who have chosen to embrace customer verification processes.”
