QPassport: Building a Private, Open, Decentralized Identity System

Decentralized identity has recently emerged as a sector of significant interest in the Web 3.0 era. But why do we need decentralized identity verification? What are the advantages of QPassport? Want to try your luck with the MetaFireworks blind box minting event?

On the journey of upscaling from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0, we strive to meet the needs in every aspect of our lives through a multitude of applications. Every action we carry out, however, contributes to the creation of a massive online personal and centralized database.

Web 2.0 suffers from three main issues.

First of all, Web 2.0 is centralized. All applications run on centralized servers, thus if these servers malfunction or if the apps cease to operate, our data and efforts risk being removed permanently.

Second, Web 2.0 is cumbersome. It seems to take us forever to fill in our personal information every time we download a software. Due to the differences between various apps, the identity verification process tends to be unnecessarily tedious.

And most importantly, Web 2.0 is insecure. A large number of Web 2.0 companies are making money off of users’ private personal information. Users’ privacy is being infringed and their data used illegally for things such as malicious advertising or data trading, etc. Users create the data, but they do not own it, nor do they gain any revenue from it.

All these factors prompted us to build an application free from the constraints of Web 2.0. QPassport is a new-generation decentralized identifier for the Web 3 era built using blockchain and privacy-protection computing technology. QPassport aims to build a decentralized, transparent, open, and secure identity system, credit system, as well as data storage and management system.

As a decentralized identity project, QPassport possesses the following advantages and features:

  • Decentralization: QPassport is blockchain-based, enabling it to be fully decentralized from data, contract to operation. Every action/transaction is recorded immutably and can be seen on the blockchain.
  • Privacy Protection: Users have full control and access to QPassport and own data.
  • Openness: With customized APIs, QPassport enables modular architecture and supports personalization.
  • Interoperability: With the development of metaverse ecosystem, the DID of QPassport could be your identification system to access applications across the ecosystem.
